SUMMARY:Alzheimer's And Dementia Awareness & Primary care Training (ADAPT) Ghana C0-Design Session
DESCRIPTION:ALZHEIMER’S GHANA • ADAPT • UNIVERSITY OF GHANA HEALTH STUDIES COLLABORATION \nAlzheimer’s Ghana\, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Awareness & Primary Care Training (ADAPT) Project\, and University of Ghana health studies partners collaborated to strengthen dementia awareness\, training and caregiving work in Ghana. The collaboration brought partners and stakeholders together to share practical perspectives and support the co-design of training resources that respond to Ghanaian cultural and care contexts. \nCOLLABORATION MEETING \nAhead of the ADAPT Ghana co-design session\, partners met as part of the collaboration to discuss the planned work\, strengthen coordination and support the development of dementia training and caregiving resources for the Ghanaian context. \n\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n Alzheimer’s Ghana and partners during the collaboration meeting. \nADAPT GHANA PROJECT: STRENGTHENING DEMENTIA TRAINING \nOn 16 September 2026\, the collaboration continued through an ADAPT Ghana co-design session with the University of Ghana Medical School and Shai-Osudoku District Hospital. The meeting formed part of the partners’ ongoing work to co-design WHO dementia training and caregiving materials and to consider how their content and presentation could better reflect Ghanaian cultural and practical contexts. \nAs part of the co-design sessions\, partners and stakeholders met to review the training material\, exchange practical perspectives and identify areas where the content could be strengthened for effective learning. The discussion brought together the Community Advisory Board and representatives from the Ministry of Health\, academia and research\, Alzheimer’s and related disorders organizations\, NGOs\, and religious and traditional leadership\, with attention to the care and support of people living with dementia and the wellbeing of caregivers. \nThe discussion also gave attention to the care and support of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia\, approaches for people providing direct care\, and the wellbeing of caregivers themselves. \nThe review is intended to guide further refinement of the materials for future training and awareness activities\, including efforts to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of healthcare professionals. \n\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\nPhotographs from the ADAPT Ghana training co-design session\, 16 September 2026. \nTHE VOICE OF ALZHEIMER’S GHANA \nAs part of the awareness effort\, the Chief Executive Director\, Mr. Venance Dey\, provided insights into Alzheimer’s disease\, dementia\, and related disorders\, highlighting the importance of awareness\, early understanding\, and support for people affected by these conditions. \n▶ WATCH: A Message from the Chief Director\, Mr. Venance Dey \nFacebook video: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19635etU8L/?mibextid=wwXIfr \n  \n  \n
